PopularEllis (flickr) (CC BY 2.0)Youth Softball Pitching ClinicYouthThe East Central Youth Softball Program is hosting a softball clinic to all students interested in learning more about pitching. All players interested are welcome to attend. Coach Grace (Penke) Carlin, former pitcher at University of Minnesota Morris will be leading the clinic. 2-Day Clinic Goals: Instruction will focus on fundamentals as well as mental training. Mechanics will be broken down and shared through a series of progression drills that will be practiced both days to reinforce the proper form. A variety of drills will be presented to help improve consistency, placement, and speed. Mental preparation and personal adjustment during games will be discussed. Players will receive instruction on their form, drills to work on at home, and a chance to ask a former college athlete and current coach questions. Coach Bio: My name is Grace (Penke) Carlin and I live in Watertown, MN where I work as the facility director for Watertown Mayer Public Schools. I’m also currently a private pitching coach, the JV/assistant varsity softball coach for Watertown Mayer High School, and the coach and co-founder of a chapter called West Metro MN Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). I was a three-sport athlete in HS (softball, soccer, and basketball) and a two-sport athlete in college (softball and soccer). I have been coaching all three sports for 10 years through high school teams, youth teams, and private instruction. I have a background in childcare, direct care, and mentoring. To sum up my personal coaching philosophy, I believe that excellence isn’t based solely on performance and that each player I work with is identified by more than the title “athlete”.2022-23FY
