It is a prestigious club of basketball players. These players are willing to separate themselves in commitment and dedication to the game. These players understand that hard work is essential to achieving goals and being able to reach the highest potential.SIGN UP: To get started on your 10K Shot Club journey, you must sign up for the East Central Summer Basketball Program and also select your interest in participating in the 10K Shot Club. You will need to track and submit your shots on a monthly basis June - September. Daily shots should be recorded on the player’s unique Google sheet. A specific sheet will be assigned to you upon officially registering and sharing an email. Example videos and shooting workouts will be shared prior to the start of the 10K Shot Club season.OFFICIAL 10K SHOT CLUB RULES: Need to be an East Central basketball player for the 2026-2027 season between grades 3 - 12. Must signify your intent to participate by officially registering for the program no later than May 31th. Shot Club runs from June 1, 2026 - September 30, 2026. All tracking needs to be in by October 15, 2026. Must shoot game shots, at game speed, going at game speed. Record how many total shots you take through the tracking form. Do not estimate. You must actually count your shots. Monthly totals are due within 1 week of the end of each month! Parent verification required. SHOT TRACKING/COUNTING: Every game shot at game speed in your driveway, a gym, any regulation size basket counts. If you participate in a league -- game days/night count as 100 shots If you participate in a tournament -- tournament day counts as 150 shots. If you participate in a basketball camp/clinic. Full day (3.5+ hrs) counts as 250, half day (2-3 hrs) counts as 150 FAQs:What are game shots? Game shots are different for every player. To be successful, you should start in close to the basket working on proper form for a warm up. Once you have established your range (distance from the basket where you can shoot the ball with proper form) you are ready. But remember - any shot you shoot, whether it’s while warming up or playing pick up ball, counts toward those 10,000 shots.Note: only game shots count toward the 10K goal. Flipping the ball up from underneath the basket and half-court lightning shots are examples of shots that do NOT count. Why game speed? You should shoot all of your shots at game speed because that is what will help make you a better player during games. Standing around and playing “HORSE” with a friend is fun, but really isn’t helping you come game time.Do free throws count? ABSOLUTELY! Ideally free throws will consist of approximately 25% of your shots taken. When you shoot shots at game speed for a long period of time, you will need to rest. Free throws are a great way to rest during a workout. Can I just guess how many shots I shoot? The idea behind the 10K Shot Club is to give you, the player, the confidence and the knowledge that you deserve to win because you put in time to improve your game. You must be true to yourself and be honest about what you want to get out of doing this. What do I get for making the club? You will successfully complete the program if you turn in all your tracking reports, along with the final member contract form, making sure all shots have been verified by a parent or guardian. Members will receive a 10K Shot Club T-Shirt and will be recognized for their accomplishment at an EC Varsity game.TIPS TO HAVING A GREAT SUMMER: Establish a specific practice time. Write down long range and daily goals. Work to develop the basic shooting fundamentals (B.E.E.F. – Balance, Elbow, Eyes, Follow through!). Use shots that you will take in a game. Shoot off of movement. Develop a routine that combines a variety of shots. Use fakes and drives while shooting. FOLLOW ALL SHOTS. Never let the ball bounce twice. GO FULL SPEED – no casual shooting for your tracker. (example, “HORSE” or “Lightning”). Shoot from a variety of spots. Practice shots after you are tired, don’t just quit. Incorporate free throws into your shooting. Shoot with confidence, concentration, and relaxation. You have to believe that every shot you take is going in. Develop a shooter’s mentality. This off-season program is designed to encourage boys and girls in the East Central basketball programs to practice their shooting on a regular basis. A player’s shooting form eventually becomes natural and more difficult to change with each shot taken. Therefore it is very important that proper form and drills be followed. Players with poor form that shoot thousands of shots will have a more difficult time breaking their bad habits when compared to players with good form and good habits. Before entering into this challenge, please consider the following: The type of shots you are taking…longer shots are more likely to be shot with poor form than closer shots. Older players should be shooting plenty of 3-point shots, but a player in 4th grade for example should keep the bulk of their shooting closer to the basket Incorporate different types of shots with different footwork around the rim, i.e. right hand lay-up off one foot, outside-inside power finish, inside-outside stop with different pivots (outside, vicious, spin), jump stop with different pivots, no dribble spin, hips across jump stop, etc. For any pull up off the dribble work, plant the inside foot as the pivot foot When practicing catch and shoot shots, the player should make sure to catch with the power foot back and at maximum bend with hands out ready to catch the ball A good habit to start is following up any miss with a lay-up type make Players that shoot shots with proper form will improve faster and elevate their game quicker than a player shooting with improper form or not shooting at all.
