Swim Lessons (Monday - Thursday)
East Central Community Education 2025 Summer Swim Lessons There will be five different sessions offered, all classes are being offered at least 2 times. All sessions consist of 8 dates. Classes are LIMITED IN SIZE - so act fast if you know a session works for your family. All of our WSI (Water Safety Instructors) are Red Cross certified. COST: Preschool levels are $35.00; Learn To Swim (LTS) -- $40.00 Please make sure you get the correct session, swim level and time when enrolling. Class level descriptions are listed on the last page of this packet. These are helpful if you are unsure of which class to select. YES, summer rec and some sessions overlap. We cannot be choosy when offering lessons due to short staffing. Sorry. If no one has enrolled in a class 5 days prior to the start, we may change the class offering, so if you are interested in a class, do not hesitate to register.July 14th-July 24thSPACE IS LIMITEDMONDAY - THURSDAY SESSION The session is a total of 8 dates.Monday, July 14 - Thursday, July 17Monday, July 21- Thursday, July 24Swim lessons are taught by our WSI (Water Safety Instructor) who have been Red Cross certified. Class PS 2 LTS 1 LTS 2 LTS 3 LTS 4 Time 4:00-4:30 4:35-5:00 5:05-5:40 5:45-6:25 6:30 -7:10 COST:$40.00 for Learn To Swim (LTS) Levels $35.00 for Preschool/Parent ChildLearn To Swim (LTS) All WSI are Red Cross certifiedLTS Level 1 (age 6 and up): Introduction to Water Skills Learn Basic water safety rules; how to use a life jacket; submerge mouth, nose and eyes; open eyes underwater and pick up a submerged object; swim on front and back using arm and leg actions; exhale underwater; float on front and back .LTS Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic SkillsSubmerge entire head, glide on the front and back, tread water using arm and leg motions; bob in water, do a jellyfish float; swim using combined stroke on front and backLTS Level 3: Stroke DevelopmentPerform a reaching assist, submerge and retrieve an object, glide on front and back, back and front crawl, kneeling or standing dive; breathe side to side in horizontal position; survival float, back float; butterfly kick and body motionLTS Level 4—Stroke ImprovementDevelops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills. • Headfirst entries from the side in compact and stride positions • Swim under water • Feet first surface dive • Survival swimming • Front crawl and backstroke open turns • Tread water using 2 different kicks • Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly • Flutter and dolphin kicks on backLTS Level 5—Stroke Refinement Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. • Shallow-angle dive from the side then glide and begin a front stroke • Tuck and pike surface dives, submerge completely • Front flip turn and backstroke flip turn while swimming • Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly • ScullingLTS Level 6-Swimming and Skill ProficiencyRefine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances; includes "menu options" - Personal Water Safety, Fitness Swimmer and Fundamentals of DivingPRESCHOOLParent/Child, (6 months – 2 years) – Parents must accompany their child in the water. Bring your child and let them get acquainted with the water. Learn the proper hold for your child in the water and play lots of fun water games. This class will include advanced techniques for the preschooler. The Pool will hopefully be 83 degrees but, please bring a t-shirt along with for your (preschool) child to wear if the pool feels cooler. Level 1 – Water Exploration (2- 3 years) -Child will learn to enter/ exit water on your own, blow bubbles, fully submerge face, and experience supported floating and kicking. *****Your child will need to be in the water by themselves for this level, if they cannot do this, please register them in Parent/child.*****Level 2 – Learn Primary Skills (3 – 4 years) -Learn to float without support and recover to a vertical position. Work on front and back glides. Your child will need to be in the water by themselves for this level, if they cannot do this, please register them in Parent/child.Level 3 – Learn Primary Skills (4 – 5 years) -Learn basic swimming propulsive skills. Learn to change direction, combine arm & leg actions on both front & backThe WSI Instructor may determine your child is better suited at another level; they will make that assessment on the first day of class.

Youth Basketball-3rd-6th Grade
East Central Youth Basketball 3rd-6th Grade Girls Youth basketball will generally include two weekdays and Saturday practices (or Saturday games). Weekday practices could be in the evenings from 5:45-7:15 or after school from 3:15-4:45. We do work around the available gym space for practices and will be working with local leagues to get games scheduled so the final practice and game schedule can’t be released until the high school schedule is out. Practices will start mid November and the season runs through early February. We participate in the Hwy 23 League with games on Saturdays in Mora. The scheduled Saturday games dates in Mora are 12/7/24, 12/21/24, 1/25/25 & 2/1/25.We will use an activity app, Heja, to share schedules and messages.You can email Lizzy Sparks with questions: lsparks@eastcentral.k12.mn.us 3rd-6th Grade BoysYouth basketball will generally include 1-2 weekdays per week and a weekend practice or game. Most weekday practices will be in the evenings from 5:45-7:15 after the high schoolers are done as opposed to right after school but we are required to have some flexibility. We do work around the available gym space for practices. Practices will start mid November and the season runs through early February. We participate in the Hwy 23 League with games on Saturdays in Mora. Refunds for jerseys cannot be given if your child decides not to play after the order has been placed) In lieu of a fundraiser we are asking if anyone would be willing to “adopt-a-ball” and donate extra money beyond the participation fee to go toward purchasing basketballs for their child’s team? A new, high-quality, basketball is about $50 - any amount would be appreciated!Reversible team mesh jerseys with a number are required. You may wear one from a previous year or to purchase one they are $35 (they can be worn for multiple years).**Jerseys are required to play**
